Originally created as the Advisory Committee on Environmentally Desirable Practices through Cambridge Municipal Code Ch. 8.56.030, this committee merged into the Recycling Advisory Committee.
Develop and promote source reduction, recycling and other environmentally desirable methods to be used by Cambridge institutions in dealing with their solid waste; implement an environmental practices recognition program for Cambridge institutions.
At least 12 members including: 1 member - Public Works, 1 member - Consumer Advisory Council, 5 representatives from community of for-profit and non-profit institutions, 5 residents.
Meeting Frequency: The RAC typically meets on the second Wednesday of each month, except July and August, at 8 a.m. at Cambridge City Hall, Sullivan Chamber, 2nd floor, 795 Massachusetts Avenue.
Affecting Legislation: The Recycling Advisory Committee (RAC) was established in the City's Mandatory Recycling Ordinance, Section 8.24.070-G passed in March 1991.
Term Limit: 3 year Terms, unlimited number of Terms.
