WHEREAS:

Reverend Randy Coplin was appointed Senior Pastor of Rush Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in Cambridge in 2015; and

 

 

WHEREAS:

The third of five siblings, Reverend Randy Coplin was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1964 to William and Carrie Coplin; and

 

 

WHEREAS:

Reverend Coplin attended the Mario Umana Harbor School of Science and Technology and graduated in 1982; and

 

 

WHEREAS:

Upon graduating from the Mario Umana Harbor School of Science and Technology, Reverend Coplin answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Marine Corp, where he served until he was honorably discharged in 1986; and

 

 

WHEREAS:

While attending a church conference in 1999, Reverend Coplin received the call to join the Ministry; and

 

 

WHEREAS:

After completing four years of conference studies and a course of studies in the Gordon Cornwell Theological Seminary, Reverend Coplin was ordained an elder of the Rush Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church and in 2003 and was later appointed Senior Pastor of the historic Rush Memorial A.M.E. Zion church in Cambridge; and 

 

 

WHEREAS:

Reverend Coplin pastored Rush Memorial A.M.E. Zion church from 2003 to 2006 and was transferred to Saint Luke Christian A.M.E. Zion Church in Dorchester, Massachusetts, where he served as Senior Pastor for eight years; and

 

 

WHEREAS:

Reverend Coplin was transferred back to Rush Memorial A.M.E. Zion in 2015; now therefore be it

 

 

RESOLVED:

That the City Council go on record welcoming Reverend and Mrs. Coplin back to Cambridge; be it further


 

 

RESOLVED:

That the City Clerk be and hereby is requested to send a suitably engrossed copy of this resolution to Reverend Randy Coplin of Rush Memorial A.M.E. Zion on behalf of the entire City Council.
