WHEREAS:

Boston Casting, founded by Cambridge resident Angela Peri and hailed as New England’s largest casting agency, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in November 2016; and

 

 

WHEREAS:

With over 100,000 union and non-union actors in the company’s online database, Boston Casting specializes in placing principal roles and extras for feature films, commercials, web videos, voice overs, and reality television shows; and

 

 

WHEREAS:

Boston Casting was founded by East Cambridge native Angela Peri, who started this company based on the experience she acquired teaching film in Cambridge Youth Centers; and

 

 

WHEREAS:

Boston Casting’s recent credits include: Mark Wahlberg’s Patriots Day, Jake Gyllenhaal's Stronger, The Finest Hour starring Casey Affleck, Joy, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert DeNiro, American Hustle starring Christian Bale and Jennifer Lawrence, The Equalizer starring Denzel Washington, and scores of other popular and critically acclaimed films; and

 

 

WHEREAS:

Angela Peri is a member of the Casting Society of America and a founding member of the Massachusetts Production Coalition, she has helped cast hundreds of national, regional, and local productions, and she has worked with many of the nation’s top directors, advertising agencies, and production companies; and

 

 

WHEREAS:

Boston Casting has been nominated for five Artios Awards for excellence in casting by  the Casting Society of America for Joy, Ted, American Hustle, and The Fighter; and


 

 

WHEREAS:

In addition to her work with Boston Casting, Angela Peri has remained active and invested in her community, and she has received numerous awards for her work, including receiving The Imaginnaire Award for her contributions to the New England production community, The I Migliori in Mens et Gesta Award from the Pirandello Lyceum for her contributions to her profession and her community, the 2015 Italian-American of the Year Award from the Madonna Dilla Sacoroso Society, the 2013 President’s Award from The Federation of Children with Special Needs, and the 2008 Margaret Bowman Award for outstanding parent in the autism community; now therefore be it

 

 

RESOLVED:

That the City Council go on record extend its congratulations to Angela Peri and Boston Casting on its 25th Anniversary, and in wishing Boston Casting continued success over the next 25 years; and be it further

 

 

RESOLVED:

That the City Clerk be and is hereby requested to send a suitably engrossed copy of this resolution to Angela Peri and Boston Casting on behalf of the entire City Council.
